Is It a Sign?

Ok, so I've been thinking about going back to school. I thought well maybe I'll start at the local college in January and at least finish up my credits for my Liberal Arts degree. I had told myself that I would not go back to school until I am 100% ready and committed to go back, and I am!! AHH!! :)

So then I started thinking about what I wanted to do with my life. My husband asked me the "What do you want to be when you grow up" question. I told him I didn't know. Then he asked me "What was the first thing that just popped into your mind?" I told him becoming a baker. He then said "Then do it!" Now, when I tell people this, that I want to become a baker and open my own bakery, some laugh, some give me that weird look like "you are out of your mind crazy" and other scream with delight because they know that that's what I should be doing (you know who you are..hehe). I mean hello!! I am the human kitchen-aid (see below)! :) So I looked into the local college and they have a whole PROGRAM on baking and business management. You also do two internships ... one with a grocery store type bakery and one at lets say a hotel. So I've been really thinking about it, but who in their right mind would want to open up a small business in the next few years! Plus, aren't there a million bakeries around here?

Well, I'm a girl that believes in signs, fate, all of that. Yesterday I went to the bank to deposit my check. As I was filling out my deposit slip I overheard the tellers talking about bakeries! I went up to the counter and one teller said to me "There just aren't any good bakeries around here, you know what I mean? I wish someone would open one!" Well all I could say was "Oh I know." but what I really wanted to say was "Hey how about in a couple of years I come back, you give me a business loan and I'll have a bakery up and running in no time." :)

If that isn't a sign ladies and gentlemen, then what the hell is?? Life is funny huh? So what do you think? I'm already starting up an "ideas" book on yummy goodies ... Mint Chocolate Chip cheesecake anyone?? Or does that sound gross?? See even when I get my own show on the Food Network Channel .. I'll still need your help :) hehe!!

All my love.

  1. Oh, Audrey, that's AWESOME!!! I totally think you should do it! I like to pretend I can bake. It never works out the way I've pictured it in my mind, though. Too much math and measuring and exact temperatures...I can't handle it. Now, put my in the kitchen making something like Lasagna, where I can just throw in whatever I feel like...now we're talking!
    Good luck!
